Witch's Fingers Recipe
Scare up some fun with these deliciously spooky Halloween treats!
Ingredients:
  • 1
    1 cup butter (softened)
  • 2
    1 cup powdered sugar
  • 3
    1 egg
  • 4
    1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 5
    2 ¾ cups flour
  • 6
    1 tsp baking powder
  • 7
    1/2 tsp salt
  • 8
    Whole almonds (for "nails")
  • 9
Red jam (or food coloring) to mimic blood
Instructions:
Prepare the dough:
In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and powdered sugar until smooth and creamy. Add the egg and vanilla extract, continuing to mix. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing until a soft dough forms.
Chill the dough:
Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for 30-40 minutes. This will help firm up the dough, making it easier to shape.
Shape the fingers:
Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Pinch off small amounts of dough and roll them into long, thin "fingers," slightly uneven to make them look more realistic. Press a whole almond into one end of each finger for the witch’s "nail."
Add texture:
Use a toothpick to make small horizontal lines at the "knuckles," giving the fingers a more life-like appearance.
Bake:
Place the shaped fingers on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the cookies are lightly golden.
Decorate:
Once the cookies have cooled, gently remove the almonds and dab a small amount of red jam or food coloring onto the "nail bed." Replace the almond, pressing it into the jam to create the effect of a bloody nail.
Serve:
Your Witch's Fingers are ready to be served! These spooky treats will be a big hit at any Halloween gathering.
